about

Natural law
This song suggests that Natural Law -whatever that is - is bigger and stronger than our anthropomorphic perspective.
That all of the beliefs, conditions, and stories we live out always fall into a greater law in the end.
It bypasses whether you believe in God or not, it doesn’t matter, we are all floating on a ball of mud in space in an infinite multiverse, and whatever the big picture is......... it is in charge.
I wrote this song when I was listening to Fidel Rodriguez’s show ‘Seditious beats ‘on KPFK Friday nights
‘Decolonize your Mind’ was often a dominating recorded slogan between songs. A mixture of local and up-and-coming hip-hop and hip-hop poetry artists speaking deep testimony from mostly communities of color was something I learned so much from. I’ve also learned a great deal about white privilege during my time in Los Angeles and see how incredibly endemic racism is in America’s institutions and society in general.
I have often heard people say ‘decolonize your mind’ especially from the Chicano community. As a white person who is not uncomfortable talking about the racist and prejudice state of things, we must look again and we remove the habits the learned beliefs, the internalized conditions that we have gleaned during our experience of socialization. It is time for us to mature and make space for more ancient knowledge that already exists deep inside everyone. That we are in this together, we are interconnected on an atomic, cellular, and inter steller level. Something that indigenous people have known forever. It is time to embrace this understanding, listen and learn because this connectivity is necessary in order for any real change in the world to occur.
The song mentions the smoke and mirrors of the land of the free, the lyric talks about how the GDP isn’t the priority when it doesn’t make all beings healthy and happy.
Our collective quality of life is not going to change until we redefine our priorities, when finally equality is the norm were love and empathy and compassion are rewarded as strong and mature qualities.
Stop telling us we’re free in the land of the free and then militarizing the police and tear gassing the people for photo ops. Fear and intimidation on your own people is a tactic of an insecure leader. The emperor has no clothes this shit is old people take care of your brothers and sisters. White people must take a much look deeper at endemic systemic white privilege that we have all taken for granted for so long.
